About Tani Ruiz

With her debut novel, X in Provence, author Tani Ruiz presents a gripping work of women’s fiction that uncovers a dark underbelly to a French paradise, marked by obsessive love, toxic relationships, treachery, and sex-sodden hobbies.

X in Provence is a novel about obsession, betrayal and survival set in a place that normally conjures up paradise.

In writing this charged erotic thriller – which centres on a woman, Rai, who finds herself sucked into a narcissistic relationship – Tani has drawn upon the experiences of many women survivors of such ordeals, and in doing so called upon her former career as an investigative reporter.

Listen to author Tani Ruiz discuss X in Provence on Talk Radio Europe.

Tani has worked for several global news agencies, covering general and financial news, and her stories have appeared in a raft of mainstream international publications. She also covered the United Nations (UN) and found the humanitarian sector and international development so compelling that she later chose to specialise in this area, becoming a communications specialist for UNICEF.

Combining splashes of erotica, psychological suspense, mystery and wonderlust, X in Provence is women’s fiction at its best.

More recently, Tani has worked freelance as an editor and counts numerous UN agencies among her clients.

Across her life, Tani has travelled widely, living in multiple countries and continents including Europe, Asia and North America. X in Provence, her debut novel, was inspired by the time she spent in Provence, a stop on “my zigzagging journey across continents – both for work and pleasure”.

It was also sparked by large and often angst-provoking questions: Why are we attracted to certain partners?, Why do some of us have trouble extricating ourselves from unhealthy relationships?, and Why the struggles with low self-esteem?
